Sarah Liberta, founder of HERBS by Sarah, is an experienced writer, editor, creative cook, community volunteer and herbalist. A former English professor, Sarah is a popular speaker and herbal teacher.
Sarah was born into a family of great south Louisiana cooks. When cooking and growing herbs became her favorite hobbies, she inevitably began teaching them to others. After more than twenty-five years of intensive study and gardening, she finds the pursuit of herbs and their many uses endlessly fascinating.
Sarah first made her popular herb bread and spread mixes for family and friends and then began donating them to herb society fund raisers. Encouraged by Chef John Folse and other food industry professionals, she started HERBS by Sarah to market the mixes.
Sarah is a member of The Herb Society of America, the Herb Growing and Marketing Network, the International Herb Association and the American Culinary Federation. In 1997, the governor presented her with an award recognizing her as the Outstanding Professional Woman with a Disability in Louisiana.
